The Impact of the Human Genome Project on the US Economy. (April 20, 2012)

In May 2011 the Battelle Technology Partnership Practice published  Economic Impact of the Human Genome Project in which it assesses  the cost-benefit of the US$3.8 billion spent by the US taxpayer on sequencing the human genome over some 13-years.

 

From the viewpoint of "impact" the question arises as to how accurately would the economic impact (let alone any other type) have been judged in the late '80s when the project effectively began?

 

According to Battelle,  for every US taxpayer dollar invested in the Human Genome Project the US economy has reaped US$141.
