Prof. Friedemann Mattern Has His Say on Bibliometric Evaluation Regarding Computer Science. (June 25, 2007)

    Friedemann Mattern is  professor of computer science in the Department of Computer Science, Institute for Pervasive Computing, ETH Zurich (Swiss Federal Institute of Technology).

 

Under the title:

 

 

he has made available a set of 44 "slides" making a case for treading carefully when relying on bibliometric data in evaluating the contributions being made to computer science.

 

His cautionary views are worthy of consideration beyond computer science.
