AAAS Writes to Parents With a Plea to Urge Greater Support for STEM Education in US Schools. (January 20, 2013)

A non-partisan committee organized by the Center for the Study of the Presidency & Congress (CSPC) released their report, "A Letter on STEM Education to America's Parents," during a December discussion at the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS). The letter calls on parents to demand improvements as U.S. school children continue to lag behind their international peers in math and science. Panellists noted that efforts over the years to awaken Congress and state governments to the importance of STEM education have been only moderately successful, saying that parents must get involved if the education system is to change.
