 US President's Council of Advisors on Science and Technology to Report on Energy Policy. (November 25, 2010)

Barack Obama's President's Council of Advisors on Science and Technology will on Monday November 29 release a report on energy technology innovation at an event to be held at the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) building in Washington, D.C. The "Report to the President on Accelerating the Pace of Change in Energy Technologies Through an Integrated Federal Energy Policy will be presented at the briefing, and the event will include presentations by OSTP Director John Holdren1 and PCAST members Ernest Moniz2 and Maxine Savitz3.

 

Discussants Robert Simon, Staff Director of the Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources and David Goldston, Director of Government Affairs at the Natural Resources Defense Council and former Chief of Staff for the House Committee on Science are also scheduled to be present.

According to PCAST, the report addresses one of the greatest challenges facing the United States: how to transform the US energy system within one to two decades through leadership in energy technology innovation which is seen as "a challenge with great implications for economic competitiveness, environmental stewardship, and national security".
