Science: So What? -- So Everything. (February 1, 2009)

The UK government in conjunction with the Royal Society have launched a new campaign to highlight the vital role science plays in people's everyday lives and in creating jobs. Given the title Science: So What? So Everything it is supported by the Royal Society together with a number of other British science organisations. It is also backed by, among others, Sir David Attenborough, author Bill Bryson.

The Royal Society's media release states:

The campaign features ads in the national press along with a range of events around the country. It was launched as a new poll revealed that people have faith in science to make positive changes in the future. However, the poll also showed that, when asked to choose which group of people has the most effect on our daily lives, only 3% selected scientists.
