Science and the Obama Transition. (November 20, 2008)

 

The Journal Science reports that US president elect Barack Obama is getting on with developing strategic policy, budgetary, and personnel decisions including science and technology prior to the inauguration.

More Details on Transition and Agency Review Teams Emerge.  Last week the Obama-Biden Transition Project revealed further details on the transition process, including lists of the agency review teams organized "to make strategic policy, budgetary, and personnel decisions prior to the inauguration." The list includes Tom Kalil, Special Assistant to the Chancellor for Science and Technology at the University of California, Berkeley, and Mario Molina, Nobelist and Professor of Physical Chemistry at the University of California, San Diego as co-leads for the review of the Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP). Tom Wheeler, a managing director at the technology venture capital firm Core Capital Partners, will lead the agency review team for evaluating science, technology, space, and art agencies. Jonathan Moreno, Professor of Ethics at the University of Pennsylvania, will lead the review team for the President’s Council on Bioethics.
