Pick the Cartoon. (September 8, 2006)
The Union of Concerned Scientists has decided it's time to use the medium of cartooning to make a statement or two with regard to political interference (and some other subjects) in science.
So... it's launched a contest where those interested may vote for one of a dozen cartoons that it has placed on its website.
As might be expected the Bush administration comes in for a barrage, but scientific integrity is also one of the subjects.
Anyone can vote for their favourite cartoon at http://ucsaction.org/campaign/vote_now_for_science_idol.
Voting closes September 30.

[Note added September 15: The journal Science reports, "The White House Office of Science and Technology Policy had no comment on the contest."]
