Australian Academy of Science President, Suzanne Cory, to Front National Press Club. (September 13, 2011)

The President of the Australian Academy of Science, Suzanne Cory, is to address the National Press Club on Wednesday September 28 on Driving Australia’s economic future through robust science education.

According to the NPC's media release Professor Cory "...is a passionate and committed advocate for a scientifically literate Australia, both through formal education and through informing and involving the general public. As President of the Australian Academy of Science she works hard to ensure that, where appropriate, scientific fact underpins public policy".

It will be of interest to hear just what steps the Academy is undertaking to have members of the Federal Parliament take a proactive interest is furthering science education. Certainly to date neither the prime minister nor the leader of the opposition had indicated even a moderate interest in STEM education per se at any level.
