A Foundation of 'Lessons Learnt' Underpins this June's CHASS Workshop at Flinders to Fix the ERA. (April 29, 2011)

This coming June 16, Flinders University will hold a one-day session entitled Developing Excellence in Research for Australia: Lessons learnt and next steps workshop. on its Bedford campus, Adelaide.

The media release from the Council for the Humanities, Arts & Social Services (CHASS) reads:

The outcomes of the 2010 round of the Excellence in Research for Australia initiative have revealed mixed results from research undertaken in the Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences disciplines. Hosted by the Council for the Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences, the Developing Excellence in Research for Australia: Lessons learnt and next steps workshop will be held on Thursday 16 June 2011 at Flinders University (Bedford Campus) in Adelaide.

The Developing Excellence in Research for Australia workshop will be split into two main parts with outcomes from the first session focussed on deconstructing the inaugural round ERA 2010 from the perspective of examining the impact of, and implications for, the HASS disciplines. For example, what does a future ERA mean for the humanities, arts and social sciences disciplines? The workshop will then move into discussion about what can be learnt from ERA 2010 so as to prepare for ERA 2012, and beyond. For example, what worked for more successfully performing disciplines and how HASS disciplines can better prepare for future rounds of ERA.
