Figures are sourced from DEEWR, DIISR and NHMRC funding data and are as at December 2010. Universities also receive funding from

non-Government sources, such as tuition fees from domestic fee payers and overseas students. Amounts for the Australian Research
Council and Education Investment Fund (EIF) are 2009-10 financial year amounts. EIF includes payments for the Teaching and Learning
Capital Fund. Higher Education Provider Operating Revenue data, which is used in Section 4, is reported annually by institutions to DEEWR,
and due to differing definitions and the application of accounting standards, may show different figures.
