Winners of the 2010 Eureka Prizes. (August 18, 2010)

The winners of the 2010 Eureka Prizes have been announced. Click on the links below to get the names of the winners in each category and details of the contributions they have made.

 

The Eureka Prizes are awarded annually by the Australian Museum; they reward excellence in the fields of scientific research & innovation, science leadership, school science and science journalism & communication.

 

Frank Howarth, Director of the Australian Museum in announcing the awards said: "The rigorous science celebrated by the Eureka Prizes demonstrates the vital work being done by our scientists in offices, laboratories and in the field all year ‘round. They are devising solutions to the problems we face in realms as varied as defence, water use, climate change and the treatment of cancer."

 

2010 is the 21st year of the awards which now total $190,000. New awards for 2010 "include prizes for Early Career Research, Outstanding Medical Research Translation, Innovation in Computer Science, and Advancement of Climate Change Knowledge.
