The Second PCAST Meeting is to Take Place on October 22-23, 2009. (October 14, 2009)

On April 27, 2009, US President Barack Obama announced the President's Council of Advisors on Science and Technology (PCAST). "PCAST is an advisory group of the United States' leading scientists and engineers who directly advise the President and the Executive Office of the President. PCAST makes policy recommendations in the many areas where understanding of science, technology, and innovation is key to strengthening the nation's economy and forming policy that works for the American people. PCAST is administered by the Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP)."

PCAST held its inaugural meeting on August 6-7, 2009. During this meeting, the participants discussed possible studies the Council might undertake. Much of the two-day meeting was webcast live, and that webcast has been archived for public viewing any time:
