Additional Australian Postgraduate Awards (APA) to be Allocated for 2009. (December 19, 2008)

The Minister for Innovation, Industry, Science and Research, Kim Carr, has announced that the government will allocate an additional 1000 Australian Postgraduate Award scholarships ($20.4 million) for 2009.

 

The stated aim according to Senator Carr is: "to deliver on its election commitment to increase the number of Australian Postgraduate Award scholarship places offered each year to 3,500 by 2012."

 

Below is the Senator's full media release, but in reading it keep in mind that the Bradley Review of Higher Education has recommended that an additional $6 billion dollars over the next four years needs to be injected into the tertiary sector by the government, i.e. on average $1,500 million per year.
