The Times World University Rankings, 2008. (October 10, 2008)

The Times Higher Education Supplement, QS - 2008 has published its list of the world's top 200 universities. It differs significantly from that released by the Institute of Higher Education, Shanghai Jiao Tong University because the criteria used for the two analyses are different.

Putting it simply, that of The Times uses a broader set while SJT restricts itself to ranking those universities which it considers to be research institutions, and they are judged on their contributions to research.
