"Breaking the Climate Deadlock". (June 30, 2008)

On June 27 Breaking the Climate Deadlock  was published by The Office of Tony Blair and The Climate Group, and has the subtitle "A Global Deal for Our Low-Carbon Future".

 

The sixty-six page document is available on line and sets out in stark terms what they see needs to be done, how it should be approached, and what are the consequences of inaction.

 

The President of the Royal Society, Martin Reese said: "International action on climate change must not be stymied by the tension between science and politics. If we are to avoid the worst effects of climate change we need to do as much as possible, as soon as possible. This will require courageous political leadership as well as giving higher-priority to the development and implementation of novel technologies on a larger scale."

 

The Report discusses and evaluates the following points:

D Addressing climate change leads to energy security

E Adaptation will be a necessity, not a choice

F Waiting is risky and expensive
