The breakdown of the $500 million Federal Budget allocation for the Better Universities Renewal Fund (BURF) is shown in the table below.

It probably would be wise for the forty-one institutions affected to look at their position in the pecking order as a sign of things to come, and whether or not the Labor government will come to allocate funding for public supported university-housed research with appropriate on-costs and without subjecting funding to a superfluous micromanaging ERA (Excellence in Research for Australia).
