The Group of Eight Reproves the RQFDAG on Its Approach to Research Impact Assessment but Shies Away from Defining the RQF as the Sledge it Is. (October 7, 2006)

    If the following letter sent to the Department of Education, Science and Training's, Innovation and Research Systems Group by the Chair of the Group of Eight, Glyn Davis, doesn't demonstrate the absurdity of imposing the layer of a Research Quality Framework as perceived by the federal government, nothing can. Millions have already been wasted as the result of the government's posturing and determination to bring the academic and research communities to heel, and many millions more will be wasted if an RQF is implemented.
