Those University Rankings -- Melbourne Scores in Top 20. (October 28, 2005)

   London's The Times has released its list of the world's top 200 universities "based on surveys of more than 2300 academics, and examines the research produced, student-to-staff ratios, international students and the number of internationally recognised academics." .

 

Australia scored 17 places in the top 200 and 5 within the top 50:  Melbourne University-19, Australian National University-23, Monash University-33, Sydney University-38, University of New South Wales-40.

 

 

 

There are some significant differences from those issued earlier this year by Shanghai Jiao Tong University's  Institute of Higher Education (see below for their criteria).
