Oligarchy and the Federal Cabinet. (August 12, 2005)

While the term oligarchs has been appropriated to refer to an usurping privileged class in post Soviet Russia, previously Oligarchy has been more generally defined as the autocratic control of any group or organization by a small faction of individuals.

However, Lewis Carroll perhaps came closer to describing the methodology currently in vogue by the government presided over by Prime Minister, John Howard.

`Let the jury consider their verdict,' the King said, for about the twentieth time that day.

`No, no!' said the Queen. `Sentence first--verdict afterwards.'

`Stuff and nonsense!' said Alice loudly. `The idea of having the sentence first!'

`Hold your tongue!' said the Queen, turning purple.
