Harvard Faculty to Expand. (November 9, 2004)

Science reports Engineering is one discipline likely to get a boost under a planned Harvard University hiring boom. According to William Kirby, Harvard's dean of the faculty of arts and sciences, it intends to expand its faculty dramatically during the next decade. The push stems from a report earlier this year urging the university to improve its faculty/student ratio.

Engineering and applied sciences could grow from around 60 to 100 professors while life, physical, and social sciences are expected to increase hiring with administrators hoping to have plans finalised early in 2005.
