ARC Announce 2005 Federation Fellowships. (July 21, 2004)

The Australian Research Council yesterday announced it is inviting applications for the 2005 Federation Fellowships.

According to the Minister for Education, Science and Training, Brendan Nelson, Fellowship salaries will be of the order of $240,000 for each of five years. This is the fourth year of the programme. Currently there are 73 Federation Fellows.

Under the programme, up to 25 Fellowships are awarded each year with preference given to early- to mid-career researchers who would reasonably be expected to significantly increase "Australia’s internationally competitive research capacity."

Host institutions of Federation Fellows must agree to provide adequate additional support in order for them to undertake their research programs. In addition, for the first time this year, some applicants will be eligible to apply for a research project grant of up to $400,000.

Applications close on 15 October 2004.
